Sweden based Mando Diao’s influence has recently spread to the UK with their last album Give Me Fire.

They had their breakthrough with ‘’Hurricane Bar’’. The roots of Mando Diao date back to 1995 when Björn Dixgård and the former Mando Diao member Daniel Haglund played in a band called Butler.  They  would lock themselves up in a summer house and spent 14 months writing songs. After 14 months the band now renamed Mando Diao, began performing at clubs around Börlange. A local writer described them in an article as the best unsigned band he had ever seen. Soon after the band signed a record deal with EMI Sweden and and released their first album Bring’Em In’. Mr. Moon, Sheepdog, Paralyzed, have been the most popular songs in the album. The first released single from that album was titled The Band which was written about arguments taken place between the two band members. The song was written by Björn Dixgard after his fellow member Gustav Noren decided to leave the band. Noren reunited with the band and completed the song right afterwards.

Following Hurricane Bar’s success Mando Diao was being described as one of the ‘’most promising bands of the year’’ in 2004. In 2007 the band released a new album and a DVD. Give Me Fire was released shortly afterwards.

Give Me Fire was co-produced by Salla Salazar from hip-hop band The Latin Kings and his brother Masse. This realized after Noren asked an autograph from the Salazar Brothers whom he was a great fan of. Noren mentioned in an interview that his encounter with the Latin Kings ended up being a recording session. The album was influenced by Quentin Tarantino and Twin Peaks. Give Me Fire was based on dancing, drums, percussion and bass. The most popular songs in that album have been the following Dance with Somebody, Mean Street, Gloria, Give me Fire...
